Maryland Car Donation

by Daniel Gulberry

Despite seeming daunting and fairly complicated, car donation Maryland is a pretty easy process. First off you need a car, truck or vehicle that is no longer being used, and you are actually willing to donate to a charity group. Then you will need to have a think about a few things.

Never donate a car, boat, or any other vehicle that is in need of expensive repairs or comprehensive maintenance. Also make sure the car is roadworthy. Nobody will benefit from a car that is going to fall apart as soon as it is driven. These organizations help disadvantaged people. Help them to help others.

The second question that you need to answer is, "Where will the donation go?". Naturally most people want the vehicle they donate to end up where it will be of most benefit. There is a seemingly endless list of folk who could really use a reliable car that you might have sitting around idle collecting dust in the back yard.

The final question you need to ask yourself is, "Which charity organization should I donate my vehicle to?". From the comprehensive list of groups you can donate a car, motorcycle or other vehicle type to, you need to pick one. We'd all like to donate to each and every one of these worthy groups, however you've only got one car to donate, so you will need to pick which one of these groups you feel is the most worthy.

You also have the option of donating to a disadvantaged person rather than a charity. There is no shortage of university students who could use a reliable vehicle. One of the sad signs of the times is there are a growing number of people being made redundant. They could definitely use a car to look for work further afield.

A lot of towns and charity organizations will either pay cash for donated cars, or will give donors a tax credit. This is to encourage the type of people who don't believe in donating to disadvantaged people. For others there is the good feeling they get from doing something to help others - in addition to the tax break.

So you've gone through the whole group selecction ordeal and listed all the groups, but you still want details on who needs it most. Try medical research organizations that fight rare diseases. Check local, outreach programs. Anything you can think of that you didn't think of the first time that may need a vehicle. Leave nothing out in your search for the most deserving recipient.

For those who are actively involved within their neighbourhood, one group they may have overlooked is on their own doorstep. Many cities need vehicles for their workforce to get around doing errands. This will help save the city several thousand dollars and free up the cities funds to pay for other needs. Donating a vehicle to your town will help the whole city.

I'm sure you now have quite a list of worthy charity groups that you can donate your vehicle to. Remember to ensure the car is in good condition, and that you are happy with your final choice of recipient. It may not mean that much to you, but the impact it has at the other end of the equation will have a huge impact.
