We all know that feeling when we are driving along happily when we suddenly become aware of a sound that wasn't there before. Unless we are amateur mechanics who love tinkering with engines, we all tend to react in the same way, we start to worry. Is it serious? How much will it cost to fix? The following 5 problems are very common and happen frequently.
The roads we drive on today are covered in debris, and this can easily get lodged in the tires making a horrible noise that sounds like it is coming from the engine. There are many causes for engine noise, you will need to take it to a mechanic is it is a persistent knocking which lasts for longer than a couple of days.
Vibrations between components is the most common cause of squeaking brakes. There are 3 main options here; it could be vibrating between calipers and the pads, the calipers and the mounts or the pads and the rotors.
The light that tells you to check the engine always comes on at the most inopportune times. This is a reminder that has been built into your car that lights up if the computer thinks there may be a problem with your emission system. Nine times out of ten it is nothing serious, but if it red and your car may need looking at immediately.
Modern cars have in built computers which, when they think they detect a problem, cause a light to come on in the cabin. If you have never notice it before and it suddenly illuminates, it can be quite a shock! It is nothing to worry about most of the time but take it straight to a garage if it is a red light.
Your cars alignment being out is the most common cause for our cars to pull to the side. A garage will do a simple realignment for you, but take care if it is pulling to only one side.
When your super smooth car stops gliding and starts jumping it's time to get a mechanic to check your shock absorbers and your struts.
Take your car to a mechanic as soon as this problem becomes apparent. If you take it quickly is should be fixed fairly easily, if not you could be facing a hefty bill for new struts and shocks.
